KOI PONDS

Koi

In the last 12 years AquaTouch staff members have frequently traveled to Japan, China, Taiwan, Singapore and Thailand bringing back an understanding and appreciation for koi fish care and husbandry. Our experience with these fish is a great resource for our clients when it comes to the health and success of their outdoor water gardens. We are available to consult with you on specific koi issues or offer a maintenance program tailored to your pond system.

The basic nutritional requirements of koi are not terribly different from those of other fish. Proteins are needed for growth, development and maintenance. Fats (especially the water-insoluble lipids) represent the major energy source in the diet. In contrast, carbohydrates — an important energy source for humans — are relatively unimportant in fish nutrition. Vitamins and minerals, often in trace amounts, are essential for metabolic performance.
