Located in the heart of the San Francisco
high rise district is Aqua Forest Aquarium. It is a rather easy shop to find in
a nice part of town. The warm and inviting store front carries on into the shops
interior. This shop is dedicated to planted aquariums.

Inside, brothers Steven and George who are
co-owners of Aqua Forest Aquarium have done an outstanding job providing a
clean, neat, and well organized shop. They offer a nearly full line of the ADA
Japanese products and some very nice T5 plant fixtures.

There are five display tanks in the front
half of the store with a sixth one in the window under development. The tanks
are laid out using Japanese design elements and as a result are very
beautiful.

There are 10 heavily planted tanks where
plants are labeled and sold from. Many of the plants are aggressively trimmed in
order to encourage more growth. The results are lush green tanks accented with
bright red and orange color given by a few large Discus in each tank. In
addition there are a variety of fish for sale in some small isles located
opposite the row of plant tanks.

George and Steven are also starting to culture the
Japanese Bee shrimp. These are kept in a small, separate tank due to strict high
water quality demands of the shrimp.
